Last week, we gave you the opportunity to win one of two tickets to Flashpitt 09! Well, the competition deadline has passed, we’ve reviewed all the entries, and I do believe we have winners!
Congratulations go out to Javier Fadul and Matt Perrin!
Javier blinded us with the science impressed us with his clever genetic algorithms and admittedly, we felt Javier was our only hope of preventing the FlashDen community from become slaves to the machine, so well done, Javier!
Matt meanwhile impressed us with all three entries (whether intentional or not!) and sheer desperation to attend Flashpitt, and the attempt to emotionally blackmail us with the picture of your charming children really paid off, so well done, Matt!
Congratulations! You’ve each won a ticket! The Flashpitt organizers will be in touch with you very soon with prize details.
Thank you so much to everyone who entered and we hope our winning contestants have a fabulous time in Pittsburgh!

Wonderfl is probably the one of the best-kept Flash secrets on the Web. It allows Flash developers to write and compile ActionScript3 online without the need for the Flash IDE or Flex. That’s right, you can write code in your browser and then watch it in action in realtime right before your very eyes!
Community & Learning
One of the attractions of wonderfl is the strong community aspect. Members can fork one another’s code to make improvements to someone else’s work or simply to kick-start brand new concepts and creations. Members are then ranked based on contributions such as the number of times a member’s code is forked, how many lines of code have been written and submitted, as well as how many times a contribution has been made a favorite.
Not only is wonderfl a collaborative environment for Flash developers, but it is also a great way to learn ActionScript 3. As you immerse yourself in each project, you can quickly copy and edit code and learn with a “hands-on” approach by writing and compiling code directly in the browser.

Please remember to enter a valid e-mail address when you submit your entry so we can contact you should you win!
Terms & Conditions & Prize Info
Competition is open to all readers of Down the FoxHole but envato staff are not eligible to enter. Competition closes at midnight (Central Time in the US) on September 23, 2009 so you have approximately a week to grab yourself a slice of free conference pie.

Update: We’re giving away two tickets here.
We’re always excited to hear about forthcoming Flash conferences and then bring them to your attention. Conferences are a fantastic way to not only learn about cutting-edge technologies, design and innovation pertaining to Flash, but they’re also a great way to socialize and interact with fellow Flash designer and developers who have the same passion for Flash as you do.
Flashpitt 09 Conference
On October 15 and 16 this year, Flashpitt will open its doors for the second consecutive year in Pittsburgh, PA in the USA, for interactive designers and developers of all abilities. This two day event features an entire day focusing on hands-on workshops and a final day of conferences by leading Flash developers such as Seb Lee-Delisle, Phillip Kerman, Scott Janousek, Jer Thorp and many, many more.
Small Class Sizes
One of the best things about Flashpitt that makes it unique compared to some other larger conferences is the smaller class sizes. Workshop class sizes are small with a maximum of only 30 people. This helps create the perfect environment for learning. So instead of trying to make huge profits on hundreds and hundreds of attendees, Flashpitt prides itself on teaching effectively to small groups of people.
Schedule of Events
Seminars and workshops at Flashpitt are split up into two days. The first day on October 15 is Workshop day where there are four workshops available. In the morning, you have the choice of:
- Flash Video and FMS
- Beginning ActionScript 3.0
And in the afternoon, you have the choice of attending:
- Intermediate ActionScript 3.0
- iPhone Development for Flash Developers
Day two meanwhile covers 11 wide-ranging seminars including:
- Flash and Web Standards: Getting Along on the Playground
- Brewing Non-PC Flash Experiences
- Video Production on the Cheap
- Creative Interactions: Flash Experiments
- Developing MMOs on the ActionScript Platform
Conclusion
So if you’re looking for a short conference to develop your AS3 skills whether as a beginner or a pro in small workshops, but also want to engage in some awesome seminars by Flash experts, Flashpitt may be ideal conference you’ve been waiting for.
