The example creates a reusable button group, shows how to include it within another project, and explains how to wire it to simple events. The tutorial also highlights the SWC archive file as a way to hold a collection of reusable custom components. Enjoy!

As you probably already know, static Flash illustrations aren’t going to be on FlashDen much longer (see here for more information). Just because they aren’t going to be on FlashDen doesn’t mean we want to see them disappear from the Envato marketplace altogether! If you’ve got a Flash illustration, you should really consider moving it over to GraphicRiver where it’ll receive a lot more exposure. To help you with the transition I’ve created this short and simple tutorial explaining how to convert your files from .fla to .eps. Thanks Boojoo for the use of your great file in this tutorial.

Please note that GraphicRiver has its own upload instructions that are very different from FlashDen’s. Make sure your files are layered, the layers are named, and… well, just read the upload essentials.

Remember Flash Catalyst? To refresh, Catalyst is a design tool that helps you create application interfaces and interactive content without coding.

Now, I don’t mean to be an evangelist about it but I have some more news about Catalyst, more like a screencast actually. InsideRIA.com has published a screencast using the demo of Catalyst they received at MAX 2008. I am a bit skeptical about the software but it does seem to perform the job it’s intended for rather well {read as: we’ll soon be seeing more 14 year olds on freelance job postings}.

Here’s the screencast:

You can download the source files via the blog posting. Doubt it would do you much good unless you have the demo copy of Catalyst.

I find the timeline and extra steps needed to change button states a bit too clunky. The interface seems rather boring as well. What do you think about it?
