Win Two Free Tickets to Flashpitt 09

It’s not what you know, it’s who you know. Having seen our article about Flashpitt 09 earlier this week, the kind people over at Flashpitt have donated two free tickets to their conference to two lucky Down the FoxHole readers!

This giveaway is now CLOSED! Winners have been announced right here. Thank you to everyone who entered! :)

How To Enter

To enter, you first have to be sure you can make it to the conference which is held in Pittsburgh in the USA on October 15th and 16th, 2009. Read full details on our blog post. If you can get to Pittsburgh, then all you need to do is leave a comment to this blog post telling us why you would like a free ticket. We will then choose two lucky winners based on the most interesting, or funniest, or most desperate response. ;-)

Please remember to enter a valid e-mail address when you submit your entry so we can contact you should you win!

Terms & Conditions & Prize Info

Competition is open to all readers of Down the FoxHole but envato staff are not eligible to enter. Competition closes at midnight (Central Time in the US) on September 23, 2009 so you have approximately a week to grab yourself a slice of free conference pie.

Each of the two winners will win a ticket to either the hands-on seminar on October 15th or the full day conference on October 16th. The choice will be totally yours. :-)

Good luck!

  • I think I should get these tickets because I posted first =]

Awwwww. I wanna win, but I’m not eligible. Oh well. :)

Can I offer two reasons why I’d like to go? They are both in this picture…

I would really appreciate getting to go to FlashPitt09 to see some professional Actionscript developers in action and to learn from them. I have been steadily working towards building my own Flash/Actionscript based games at night in hopes that maybe I could have a second income (or a secondary skill set in case I get laid off) to give my kids a great education and a home of our own some day. FlashPitt would be a great opportunity for me that I never could afford to go to on my own.

And I promise I won’t wear my Browns football jersey once I cross the state line even though I’d be driving into Steelers-land.. :)

Hi folks! I would like a free ticket to Flashpitt 09 because I would like to expand my Flash abilities and increase my marketability in this tough economy. That and I think it’ll be a blast to attend. :)

  • Because American Eagle broke a 6 month contract with me after only employing me for 6 weeks, so now I won’t have a job

  • Oh yeah, and my last day is the 23rd of September, which also happens to be my wedding anniversary, which also happens to be the day the contest is over. It looks like the stars are aligning in my favor.

  • TJ says:

    WELL GOOD LUCK TO EVERONE..

  • Matt Perrin says:

Not trying to sound “desperate” but here’s the truth… I would really appreciate an opportunity to go to FlashPitt09 because I haven’t had an opportunity to meet other AS coders (except for the local User Groups) and I’m fairly new to ActionScript coding (Just 6 months or so) and would greatly appreciate the workshops and experiences.

I started working on some late night ActionScript & Flex projects in hopes of maybe creating my own Flash games or as a second skill set in case I get laid off (which is looking possible by year’s end). I live in the Cleveland, Ohio area where jobs are very sparse and as the sole income for my family I can’t afford to attend these types of events. My current employer has no need for an ActionScript/Flex dev so this entire endeavor has been me trying to improve myself. A free ticket to would be a pretty big deal for me and potentially my career future.

    Thanks for reading. – Matt

Doh! Quick apology! I made a HUGE mistake and posted twice! I submitted my entry at work earlier today and the browser crashed during the posting. When I got home, I checked the website and only saw the first two Comments on the site, mine wasn’t displaying so that’s why I posted a second time.

Please ignore one of them and/or delete it. Thanks and sorry everyone.

I already took off of work in anticipation of winning, and I swear I’ll even get a haircut and shave if I get picked so that I represent Envato well. But in all seriousness, I would really promote / talk up Envato there because of all FlashDen has done for me, and you will get a ton of new users and authors if I go because of my wink and a smile charisma.

  • Doug Logan says:

I should win because someone else I know is going. And then I can stalk them and make sure they have a great time. Come on, help a stalker out ;)

  • Justin says:

I would like to win because I have been dedicated & motivated enough to study very hard the past year on my own. I have not been fortunate enough to visit any conferences yet and have been hoping to visit one soon. Please pick me :)

  • doru says:

I will win the ticket, else I will found you wherever you are and make you pay for not giving me that ticket. Yes, you, author of this article. Chose carefully, I watching you.

Then the I will just throw away the ticket for I can’t be in Pittsburgh that’s because I’m in Europe. Or I will sell them on ebay. Or just burn it. Or give it for free to someone who actually goes there.

    Chose carefully the winner.

Because I worked so hard filling in this comment box.

It’s because I have a $6000 credit card debt, and just spending extra money would make my wife very very angry. Like she can turn into a finger-pointing she-hulk. Mind you, she is pretty hot. (I mean my wife!!!) I also like the fact that there are some cool Canadian Flash speakers like Julian Dolce and Stacey Mulcahy.

  • JT says:

I am about to teach my friend Flash and AS3. I already have a ticket, but he cannot afford one. What better place to learn about Flash? If I win a ticket here, I will give it to my friend and then I won’t be the only person that knows about Flash in my little town.

While scouting tickets for the Oct 18 Steelers game on vivid seats (http://www.vividseats.com/shop/viewTickets.shtml?productionId=784961), I was so impressed by the flash app that they have for ticketing that I thought it would be worth investing some time learning flash. Well its just may be a coincidence then that the flash pitt conference shows up as the top 5 results when I google for flash conferences that leads me here. Wow wouldn’t it be wonderful to learn flash and go to the game over the same week/end.

Whew boy that sure is a story that I made up. Anway the real reason how I stumbled on this website was I just wanted to see if there were any flash conferences around this time of the year that I could get to and they have this blogpost linked on the flash pit conference website. So I guess the 2 free passes would really help my organization send couple of ppl along as I think we are going to the conference anyways.

  • Abhishekh says:

I mean we are planning to go to the workshop part of the conference anyways (on thursday) so we could really use the 2 free passes on friday and spend the weekend there in Pittsburgh. Honestly I am not wanting to stay over the weekend to watch the steelers game though I am Steelers fan. The story above was made up !!!

  • Abhishekh says:

Well we are planning to attend the workshop part of it (Thursday) so I guess we could use the 2 free passes to attend Friday as well and stay over in Pittsburgh that weekend to watch the game may be. Honestly the story above was made up as my company probably wont pay to stay in a hotel over a weekend that too to watch a game. Definitely not…

I would really like to attend the Friday conference, and attend as many of the great sessions as I can. I am the only Flash Developer at my company and would enjoy the opportunity to learn/share with other Flash developers. I think it is awesome that we have local technical conferences like this, and want to thank everyone involved for making Flashpitt 09 a success.

  • Tom Krupka says:

Because My boss is too cheap to send me to a sweet conference like this!!

I want to expand my knowledge in AS3 and create some cool stuff!

And of course Big Ben is on my fantasy football team!

  • Kevin says:

I want to see the best the Flash Community has to offer. FlashPitt FTW!

  • Javier Fadul says:

NEED to go, so I can meet blprnt in person and talk to him more about genetic/evolutionary algorithms. I talked to him through twitter for a while about it, but 140 chars is not enough room. What we briefly discussed allowed me to finally make a simple search genetic algorithm. Meeting him in person will set off a chain of events that will accelerate AI development, and allow us to stop the machines from taking over. or give it so someone else, and become a slave to the machines.
I am @inspired12, and I approve this message

  • Jesse Freeman says:

Um I am a homeless Flash developer and I have sweaty armpits. Also, I was so excited at the possibility of getting a free ticket that I wet myself: http://twitpic.com/7fbh9.

  • Alex Baker says:

Simple logic: the skills I learn at FlashPitt will help me get a long overdue raise. Hear me out.

I’m trying to push interactive Flash content at my company’s two schools, the New York Institute of Photography and Sheffield School. By traveling to FlashPitt, I can make the case that now, more than ever, we need more engaging content to help increase leads and enrollments. And if that’s the case, then finally I might be able to get the raise, which I’ve been waiting on since I started over a year ago at a really low pay grade.

So that’s my logic and I’m sticking with it. And hope to see everyone there!

  • Because Dan Mall is awesome!

  • oh and my birthday is the 15th!
