How To Promote Your FlashDen Files on Hot Scripts

A great stock file will always sell well, but it’s naive and a missed opportunity to think that all your stock files will sell well without any extra promotion. Following-up on our previous post about Adobe Exchange, using Hot Scripts is another great way to promote your FlashDen files.
UPDATE: Please note, we previously recommended adding your FlashDen referral codes to all the files/links you submit to HotScripts. Ahmad Permessur, Product Manager of HotScripts.com has kindly pointed out to use that this is actually not permissable. So by all means continue to submit your FlashDen items to Hot Scripts, but please do not add any referral codes to your links. We recommend you go back and edit the links to any files you may have already submitted. We thank Ahmad for pointing this out to us and we apologize to anyone for any misinformation and inconvenience caused.
Here’s how to upload your FlashDen files to Hot Scripts in order to obtain more file exposure and drive traffic back to your file on FlashDen in the hope of increased sales.
So here we go, here’s how quick and easy it is to upload to Hot Scripts:
-
Creating an Account

The first thing to do on Hot Scripts is to register an account. It’s super quick and easy. Register here. You will then receive an e-mail asking to confirm your registration. Once you’ve confirmed your new account, log on.
-
Submitting Content

Once you’re logged in, there is button in the top left corner of the Web page that says “Submit a New Listing!”. Click it.
-
Choose a Category
It probably goes without saying, but choose Flash as the main category you want to submit your file to, and then choose FLA Archives as the second option.
-
Listing Details
All the fields in this section are self-explanatory. Add the Name and Description of your FlashDen file, just as it appears on FlashDen (but limited to 1,000 characters), and also add a brief Summary – a sentence or two just to give an overview of your file. This should be less descriptive than your main description and should not exceed 255 characters.
The Site URL, Download URL and Demo URL should all be the same – your FlashDen item page. Please note, you are not allowed to add your FlashDen referral link to the links you submit as this is against the Hot Scripts terms and conditions.
Complete this section by filling out the Author name (your real name), the Version number of your file (for example, 1.0), and then select an option from the dropdown box to choose the size of your Flash file. If your file supports a database, check all the database options that apply, or in most cases, you will just need to check “None”. Then select the Supported Platforms for your Flash file. You typically only have to select Linux, Mac OSX and Windows here, as that’s where Flash Player is predominantly used.
-
Select a License and Submit your File
We’re almost there! The final step is to select a license. Choose “Commercial License” from the dropdown menu. There’s no need to add any other licenses. Add the price of your FlashDen file exactly as it is on your FlashDen item page (eg. 10.00 for “$10″) and choose Dollars as the currency. Finally, click the big red Submit button and that’s it! If you have made any errors, they will be highlighted for you in red. But if the submission was successful, you will get a green confirmation message:

And that’s it! You’ve just submitted your Flash file to Hot Scripts! Your file will eventually be reviewed (be prepared to wait depending on how much of a backlog there currently is). If accepted, your file will eventually appear in Hot Scripts! You can check on the status of all your submissions from the My Listings page.

Same to Lance, I did think that hotscripts isn’t free at all.
HEY!
I thought HotScripts didn’t allow referral linking.
I ll add my referrals to my listings right away.
Great post Scott, thank you
Parker
@LanceSnider. Hotscripts charges for featured listings only.
Basic listings are for free.
Thank you Scott, great post
Very cool! I’m adding my files for sure.
>>I thought HotScripts didn’t allow referral linking.
I think You are right they rejected my listings, after i sent an e-mail to support i got this:
“you’re not allowed to use your own affiliate code.”
Hello,
I’m Ahmad Permessur, Product Manager of HotScripts.com. Thanks for all your recent submissions, they are currently being reviewed and will be approved soon. In order for us to expedite validation of your listings, please make sure that your listing abides to our submission guidelines: http://www.hotscripts.com/helpdesk/index.php?x=&mod_id=2&id=18
We unfortunately do not allow affiliate code/tags in the URLs. I do understand that this is your own product and it is fair to earn some commission, but our policy has been in place for years and applies to all listing partners. By allowing affiliates on our site, we’ll end up having lots of duplicate submissions.
Submission is free but we also offer sponsored and premium listings. For more information, please visit: http://www.hotscripts.com/advertising/enhanced-listings/ By enhancing your listing, you can double traffic to your product page on FlashDen. We’d be happy to consider offering discounts for bulk order.
Feel free to contact us via our helpdesk should you have any other questions. Again, we are pleased that you have chosen to list your resource on Hot Scripts, and we look forward to increasing your exposure while sending traffic to your site!
I had all the files I sent with referral links rejected. So you can promote your files, but without ref links.
great post! if someone knows about other site like this, please let us all know!
What i did is edited my listings and added the ref. But maybe they will delete it later i dunno.
Ahmad, thank you so much for dropping by and letting us know about the referral links rule. We apologize for any inconvenience cause to Hot Scripts and to any authors who may have already submitted files to Hot Scripts. We have added an update to our blog post to set the record straight and we have removed all instructions pertaining to adding referral links. Anyone who has already submitted files/links to Hot Scripts (with referral codes added to the links), please go to your listings page on Hot Scripts and simply remove the referral codes. Thanks again, Ahmad!
Thanks Ahmad for dropping by and setting us straight. Thanks so much for a free place to promote our files!
Christmas wish i will ask that hotscripts allows ref links.
Hey Lance, how about the team script in a workaround so that whenever a visitor comes in from hotscripts it will check to see who the author of the file is that he’s looking at, and then apply normal referral tactics from there. Shouldn’t be all to hard should it?
Scotty you are the best, thanks for the advice which I really appreciate. Btw I still admire your brilliant idea to promote at adobe exchange
